Welcome to Your API of North Fulton, Georgia Community!
As parents look for better ways to raise secure and loving children, many are turning to Attachment Parenting to meet the needs of their family. Attachment Parenting emphasizes physical and emotional closeness between a parent and child as a way to encourage positive bonding to aid in creating lasting, enduring relationships for the future. Attachment Parenting is a style of parenting that fulfills a child's need for trust, empathy, and affection while at the same time keeping the whole family balanced. Attachment Parenting offers a variety of tools for a family to choose from to aid in making the attachment in their family strong emotionally and physically. Every family is unique; therefore, each family will have in their possession their own personalized toolbox.
We are a community in which we pride ourselves on helping like-minded parents (including ourselves!) to find the tools they need for their toolbox and to help them sharpen the tools that might be a bit rusty or in need of repair. We've heard the addage "It takes a village to raise a child" and we take this to heart.
Sharpening the tools!
As already mentioned, we realize that every family needs their own set of tools in order to have a fully loaded toolbox to aid them in their attachment parenting journey. Attachment Parenting International references these tools as Principles and as a community we fully embrace each Principle to the best of our ability. We accomplish this by contacting an API Leader when we need clarification; by attending the monthly API meetings to help educate, remind, or participate in a discussion of the Principles; we socialize together through weekly play groups, weekly hikes, or through a monthly moms event; we hold a book club in which we discuss our thoughts, questions, and observations of reading an attachment parenting oriented resource together either online or in-person; we have an online community to turn to 24/7 to help gain some insight, comfort, or tips from other families; and we provide a newsletter to highlight how our community is supporting each other.
We also believe in our community
supporting the International organization by participating in regular donations
and by becoming an official API member. Some of the things provided to our
community are only available to paying API members.
